:
This consisted of eight talks and the speaker for these was Prof. Sarnam Singh (Nalanda University). The summary of these talks are as below:
1. Fundamentals of Remote Sensing (21 August 2018): This talk introduced the topic of remote sensing as we perceive it today. Here we defined remote sensing. It covered the topics of electromagnetic radiation, satellites sensor, platforms, data types, etc.
1. Fundamentals of Remote Sensing (21 August 2018): This talk introduced the topic of remote sensing as we perceive it today. Here we defined remote sensing. It covered the topics of electromagnetic radiation, satellites sensor, platforms, data types, etc.
2. Characteristics of Satellite Image (23
August 2018): This started
with the discussion on the energy-matter interaction which leads to formation
of remote sensing images. Here we discussed resolutions, false colour
composite, spectral characteristics of land surface features, image
interpretation elements and mapping.
3. Image Processing (24 August 2018): The processing of remote sensing data
requires removal of image distortions, enhancements, NDVI, PCA, Change
detection. In this talk these techniques were described.
4. Image Interpretation (27 August 2018): This is a very important part of remote
sensing. In this talk we discussed on methods of supervised and unsupervised
classification algorithms; classification accuracy assessment etc.
5. Remote Sensing Applications in
Forestry (28 August 2018):
This talk provided examples of visual satellite image for Forest cover. It described
types of forest, density mapping, vegetation classification schemes, etc.
6. Remote Sensing Applications in Forest
Inventory 29 August 2018):
This talk highlighted the methods of forest sampling, forest inventory, growing
stock, biomass and vegetation carbon pool assessment, etc.
7. Remote Sensing Applications
Biodiversity (30 August 2018):
This talk described characterization biodiversity. It highlighted important
issues e.g. forest conservation planning and management, wildlife management,
man-wild animal conflict, etc.
8. Remote Sensing Applications in Forest Disasters (31 August 2018): Today in the world, many forests suffer from deforestation and fire. This talk highlighted these important aspects. We discussed methods of forest cover monitoring, forest fire, scar mapping, etc.
