Space Education
and Research Foundation (SERF) announces 13th webinar. This webinar
will be on “Artificial Intelligence-demystified” and consists of four sessions
by Prof Ravee Choudhury. These will go live on 2nd, 3rd, 6th
and 7th May 2019 during 06:00 to 07:00 UT. Please check the time in
your region (e.g. in India this will be 11:30 to 12:30 hrs).
The titles of the
sessions are as follows:

About the speaker (Prof. Ravee Choudhury):
Prof Ravee Choudhury holds BE and
M. Tech degrees in Industrial Engineering and Management Mechanical Engineering
from Utkal University, Bhubaneswar and IIT Kanpur respectively. He has >40
years of experience of application design, development, and support, IT systems
integration, delivery of strategic IT
outsourcing for large multination in Pharmaceuticals, telecommunications,
manufacturing, government sectors, management projects, business development
etc. He started his career as lecturer in Mechanical engineering at University
College of Engineering, Sambalpur. Later
he joined as research associate at IIT, Kanpur for a year and moved to Indian
Institute of Management Ahmedabad. At IIM Ahmedabad he worked for 12 years and
rose to the position of IT Manager for IIMA Computer Center. He has industry
work experience with large multinational IT organizations such Digital
Equipment Corporation, COMPAQ computers corporation. Hewlett-Packard and DXC
Technology in India, Hong Kong, Singapore at their Asia Pacific regional HQ. In
these he played various regional roles.
Abstracts of the sessions of the webinar on “Artificial
Intelligence-demystified”:
This webinar on
“Artificial Intelligence-demystified” is divided in four sessions as below:
Session 1 Introduction to
Artificial Intelligence: This session begins to define “What is Artificial Intelligence
(AI)?”. It would outline the importance of AI today and briefly describe
different type of AI systems. The session also highlights broadly the subject matter
and topics to be covered in next three sessions.
Session 2 Technologies of
AI: This session is aimed to deal in some detail - the underpinning
technologies of AI; such as Neural Networks & Machine Learning. The Machine
Learning, Big Data, Computer Vision, Speech Recognition etc. are the
technologies that have made AI systems feasible. These would be described.
Session 3 Applications of
AI: This session is designed to cover some of the interesting current
applications of AI in Agriculture, Aviation, Education, Finance, Manufacturing,
Healthcare, Marketing, Media, Customer Support, Human Resource Management etc.
Session 4 Development and
Implications of AI: This session has two parts (a) Tools
of AI development and (b) Societal and ethical, political implications of
developing AI based systems. These would be discussed in some details here.
